Von Magnet Headliner BUTTFF musicprogram on Saterday

Von Magnet gives a concert performance on Saturday, September 6th at the BUTFF festival.

Von Magnet has been active since 1985, first from London, Barcelona, Rennes, Amsterdam, Lille, Paris and Berlin to finally in find a steady homebase in France. Over and over again, these musical nomads create unbeatable, passionate music. In the beginning, they conquered alternative dance floors with a catchy blend of flamenco, electro, avant-garde and gothic,with cult hits like "Genius Never Dies" and "The Magnet". "Magnetism" is what they also have called their music. The term "electro flamenco" is also used on a regular basis, Whatever the best name for this attractive music, they have created their own genre that they keep reshaping over and over again.

Later on in Von Magnets artistic career gypsy influences appear more in the music and they have become an eclectic dance company full of drama with music also regularly heading into ambient sounds. They incorporate world-music with manyexperiment on a wide scale. Through the years they remain a unique phenomenon in the music industry. A known fact is that they use a lot of samples and they recommend us to sample them as they have already sampled you!. They are heroes who are still there after all these years. Genius never dies.

In the autumn of last year they released the tenth studio album Archipielagos, additionally both live albums also turned out quite worthwhile releases. They are presenting music that can be only be created by Von Magnet.

The title of the album is the Spanish word for "archipelagos", an island-group with isolated islands separated and yet connected to each other. So with their music, different separated genres, yet here they are mixed in such a form creating a new whole. In addition, the word "archipelagos" is also chosen because of he word ("piel") meaning skin. Their work always crawls under your skin, but it is also intended to indicate that their music is mainly an organic whole.

It however remains a fact they are on their own discovered and shaped island. Von Magnet after 20 years still essential and yet unchallenged with their domain. In live situations Von Magnet adapts per location. They gave performances in churches, concert halls, slaughterhouses, hospitals and factories. It's actually never just concerts, there is always a totally performance given everything. Art galleries, tv shows, street festivals, even an opera ballet, Von Magnet has done all in their 20th of existence. Possibly the most special live show to come to Breda this year.
